The Reißiger Society was founded at the beginning of 2003 in Belzig by Thea Labes and friends, all admirers of Reißiger´s music. It is the aim of the Society to establish an organisational and financial framework for those, who want to study and perform Reißiger´s work. The Society organises performances, including the more unknown parts of Reißiger´s opus. A recent highlight was the rediscovery by Thea Labes and her friends of the oratorium "David", a truly magnificent work. This works reputation is growing far beyond Reißiger´s birthplace Belzig. There are even plans for a performance in Israel.

Furthermore the Society initiates and supports research on Carl Gottlieb Reißiger. His influence on the music of his time was important and is effective until modern day.
Finally, the Reißiger Society wants to make a significant contribution to the cultural life of Reißiger´s hometown Belzig in order to increase its attraction for visitors as well as its inhabitants.
